RegALE project partners met for the third Transnational Partners meeting

RegALE (Regional Capacity in Adult Education and Learning) project partners met online on 7 and 8 February 2022 for the third transnational partners meeting. The consortium had the opportunity to discuss the project: its work in progress and further steps for the upcoming months.

Three webinars, available on a Moodle platform, were already organised on:

  • EU Education tools, organised by EARLALL and Borås stad
  • Financing adult learning in Europe: funding tools and their effectiveness by EAEA
  • Advocating adult education at the local level by Estonian Non-formal Adult Education Association (ENAEA)

After an ice-breaker where each partners had to present a public art piece from their home towns, the results of the different activities of the project were discussed. During the last months, project partners shared among their networks a survey, drafted by the University of Siena and Borås stad on challenges and opportunities of adult education in the cities and regions. All the data collected is now being analysed and the results will be shared by project partners in the coming weeks.

In parallel, a collection of best practices on knowledge of successful Adult Education practices and policies at local and regional levels was collected by the Hellenic Adult Education Association and VHS Baden Württemberg and the help of project partners. The collection is nearly ready and should
be available on the RegALE website very soon.

Three different types of activities will also be organised by project partners in the coming months:

  • Capacity-building activities (training programmes – 3-)
  • Peer-learning activities (study visits – 4 -)
  • The series of webinars will also continue (11 in total)

Apart from the monthly online partners’ meeting, some partners will meet again from 1 to 3 March on the occasion of the first project training on EU programmes, organised by EAEA. This online training, open to all stakeholders interested in the topic will enable participants to:

  • Learn more about current EU policy in Adult Learning Education and Lifelong learning
  • Get introduced to the EU policy landscape and especially the Committee of the Regions
  • Get introduced to key funding programmes
  • Discuss common challenges and opportunities for regional cooperation in Adult Learning
    Education and Lifelong learning

UNESCO World Education Day, Lucca Learning City, January 2022, 24th

The Unesco World Education Day organised by Lucca Learning City has been devoted to the key education challenges that we are all facing due to the pandemic emergency. These were the issues that Lucca Learning city network wanted to discuss and debate on.

One of the key points is the coordination and cooperation among all key actors of the city, like local institutions, schools, businesses, social services, and cultural infrastructures. To this regard RegALE international survey and investigation was launched as Lucca municipality and the Unesco learning city network were particularly active and motivated in the survey.

The event was shared via Lucca Learning City Facebook and Youtube by the Municipality of Lucca https://www.facebook.com/luccalearningcity and https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgi8sB1lJhMnN1js6D3Dm-g

Increasing regional capacity in adult education – let us know what you think!

The RegALE consortium has launched a survey to investigate the challenges and opportunities of the adult education sector at regional and local levels. The survey also intends to map the gaps and needs of education organisations and stakeholders.

More impact and sustainability for adult learning and education organisations

The RegALE project aims to increase the impact and sustainability of regional/local adult learning and education (ALE) organisations by setting up or reinforcing networks among them and with regional/local authorities.

The main outcome of the project is an increased capacity of its partners (and of their networks, stakeholders, partners, and members) to respond to their challenges. RegALE will also contribute to building cooperation structures and promoting an adult education culture in communities, cities, and regions.

Phase one: finding out the challenges and opportunities

The project was officially kicked off in March. In the first phase of the project, partners will work on a background report on the challenges and opportunities of adult education and learning in cities and regions. In addition, the partners will create a repository of good practices and initiatives that promote a learning culture at local and/regional levels.

The consortium is highly motivated and has great expectations for this project. The project is coordinated by the EAEA in cooperation with the European Association of Regional & Local Authorities for lifelong learning (EARLALL). Project partners include the Varaždin County, Vestland County Council, Hellenic Adult Education Association (HAEA), AONTAS, Estonian Non-formal Adult Education Association, the Learning and Work Institute, VHS Baden-Württemberg, Adult Education Borås, and the University of Siena.

If you want to be part of a pool of local and regional policymakers and ALE stakeholders, share your opinions with us by filling the RegALE survey. In return, respondents will get valuable input from other EU respondents, policymakers and stakeholders and access to our survey results.

Based on the survey results, the ReGALE consortium will draft a comprehensive description of relevant policies and aspects of the adult education and learning systems, assess the strengths and weaknesses of the systems, and suggest potential avenues for further reform.

ACCESS THE RegALE SURVEY

The survey will take approximately between 15 and 30 minutes to complete and is accessible until the 19th of May. Replies, documents and links can be submitted in any language. The responses will be treated anonymously and confidentially by the research team and be used only for the RegALE project’s purposes.

New project: RegALE’s pre kick-off meeting

The RegALE (Regional capacity for Adult Learning and Education) project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme (KA3), was launched by means of an online pre kick-off meeting on 27 January with all the partners. The meeting was hosted by the EAEA (European Association for the education of Adults), project coordinator, and EARLALL. Its purpose was for the partners to get to know each other better and begin the project work.

The RegALE project aims at setting up or reinforcing networks of adult education organizations and creating synergies with regional and local authorities in order to increase their impact and sustainability. This will be achieved by increasing the partners’ capacity (and of their networks, stakeholders, partners and members at their level of action) to respond to their challenges, build cooperation structures, and promote an adult education culture in communities, cities and regions.

Project partners include the EAEA (coordinator), EARLALL, Varaždin County, Vestland County Council, Hellenic Adult Education Association (HAEA), AONTAS, Estonian Non-formal Adult Education Association, the Learning and Work Institute, vhs Baden-Württemberg, Adult Education Borås, and the University of Siena. During the meeting, partner representatives to be involved in the project introduced themselves briefly and identified key expectations and fears for the years to come.
